Mangawhai
The 3 latest chicks have been seen at Te Arai so the Rangers are starting to pack up. A family was entertained for 20 min. while picnicking one evening at Pearson St Reserve with an adult fairy tern foraging nearby while its chick made practice dives in a puddle on the sand flats. Also, another family reported 5 fairy terns including 2 chicks hovering and diving at Spectacle Lake.

The chick is going on longer flights some out to sea.

They are doing longer flights and one has maybe spent the night at Mangawhai.
